Advancing service research at the Base of the Pyramid: A service ecosystems perspective

This chapter aims to answer the multiple calls for further service research to provide new perspectives on poverty alleviation. It applies the service ecosystems framework in a Base of the Pyramid (BoP) context, which highlights the key role of actors’ social embeddedness, private resources, and informal institutions in enabling value co-creation in the service ecosystem. It thus provides insights into the ongoing collaboration in, refinement of, and development of a framework for BoP service ecosystems.
