The survival of living beings is due to the existence of a balance
in the activities that allow them to live day by day, such as the intake of
food, and the energy they spend to survive. Those behaviors that allow
Daily survival is called motivated behavior. The hypothalamus
lateral is the area that generates the internal signals to control the demand of
food and waking behavior. When there is an imbalance in the homeostasis
energetics of the organism, disorders such as anorexia nervosa or
obesity.
The lateral hypothalamus (HLA) has three groups of neurons in charge
of the regulation of motivated behaviors, which are characterized by the expression
of one of three peptide neurotransmitters: either orexin (ORX), hormone
Melanin concentrator (MCH) or neurotensin (Nts). These three populations
they are interconnected and regulated among themselves. The orexinergic system has
an important role in sleep and intake, so there is great interest in
understand the molecular elements that regulate the expression of orexin, since
could help identify therapeutic targets for obesity and disorders
food.
The importance of this project is based on the possibility that the factor of
EBF2 transcription regulates the expression of orexin, so in this project
will analyze the co-expression of EBF2 and orexin in neurons of the hypothalamus during
early postnatal stage. The main objective is the identification of circuits
neurons of EBF2 and orexin in the lateral hypothalamus in mice in the stage
early postnatal For this, techniques such as genotype identification were used
by means of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), obtaining tissues by
microhistological sections, tissue staining by means of immunofluorescence and
acquisition of images by high resolution microscopy.
