Mexico’s healthcare sector faces critical challenges in infrastructure, human resources, and administrative processes. Small private medical units (1–24 beds), which represent 96% of the private sector in Nuevo León, lack accessible technological tools to digitalize their clinical-administrative management. This results in operational inefficiencies, information loss, and coordination difficulties among healthcare professionals.
The objective of the project was to design a business unit for ARQmedyca, named ARQmedyca Health Technologies, specializing in healthcare technology consulting through the development of a modular management system that centralizes administrative, clinical, and financial processes under the concept of “progressive flexibility.”
The theoretical framework integrated the Disciplined Entrepreneurship methodology (Aulet, 2017), complemented by Design Thinking and Lean Startup tools, along with national regulations (LFPDPPP, NOM-004-SSA3, NOM-024-SSA3) and international standards (ISO 56002, Joint Commission International).
The methodology followed a sequential exploratory mixed-methods approach. The qualitative phase included 20 semi-structured interviews with clinic managers, identifying fragmented processes and duplicated documentation as the main issues. The quantitative phase involved 184 structured surveys, confirming that 100% experience appointment management problems and 67% are willing to adopt digital solutions within 12 months.
The results demonstrate the technical and financial feasibility of the modular SaaS business model. An MVP was designed consisting of a digital scheduling tool and basic analytics, scalable into five comprehensive modules. Financial projections indicate profitability starting in year two, with a positive NPV and an IRR exceeding the cost of capital.
It is concluded that a real market opportunity exists among small private clinics in Nuevo León that are underserved by enterprise solutions. It is recommended to implement controlled pilots in three clinics during the first operational quarter to validate adoption assumptions and refine the product before commercial scaling.
