“CEVAM” is a project that proposes the creation of a Center for Housing, Medical Assistance, and Community for the elderly in Monterrey, Mexico. The initiative responds to the growing needs of an aging population, promoting healthy aging and active social integration. The research emphasizes the rapid demographic increase of individuals over 60 years old and the challenges this trend poses in terms of housing, healthcare, and social services.
The project develops an inclusive and accessible architectural design, eliminating physical barriers and facilitating mobility through ramps, handrails, and spacious areas. The incorporation of assistive technologies—such as health monitoring devices and medical alert systems—ensures independence and safety for residents. In addition, the center integrates a geriatric medical facility that provides specialized care and training programs for professionals, guaranteeing prevention, treatment, and continuous support to improve quality of life.
A key component of the proposal is the creation of public spaces that encourage social interaction and emotional well-being. Rest areas, community activity spaces, and commercial services within the center foster inclusion and strengthen social bonds. Sustainability is also a fundamental pillar, achieved through the use of recycled and eco-friendly materials, as well as renewable energy solutions such as solar panels and water management systems.
In sum, “CEVAM” offers an innovative response to the challenges of population aging in Monterrey, Mexico presenting a safe, accessible, and socially inclusive environment that contributes to the well-being of the elderly and reinforces community identity.
