Abstract
Competency-based learning is not new, but various challenges facing higher education, combined with new technologies or traditional active learning techniques, have brought these systems on stage because the implications for students and faculty of higher education. A proposal based on educational technology that combines the principles of competency-based learning and research-based learning is considered. The experimental teaching sessions of the Dynamic Vehicle course was re-designed exploiting a quarter of vehicle model prototype. Students lived a better learning experience and developed the needed competencies to design and implement a control system for an automotive semi-active suspension.
