Abstract

The book is a collaborative work from the Department of Film and Communication at the University of Monterrey. It brings together a shared intellectual exercise involving professors from various disciplines, students contributing their coursework, and a visiting professor, resulting in a joint reflection on the challenges posed by artificial intelligence.

The central theme of the volume is the challenges of a topic that will remain relevant in the coming years: artificial intelligence and its implications for human and social life, an area that directly impacts communication and from which it is not exempt. In this sense, the book's title encourages readers to avoid being caught up in technological immediacy and to foster a critical reflection that transcends the immediate.

The publication addresses media literacy in the face of AI, the risk of perpetuating inequalities, changes in the traditional communication model, and ethics within the technological-human landscape. It also reflects on the relationship between knowledge and human understanding, AI-assisted advertising creativity, and the imagery constructed through film and entertainment. As a final note, a comment by Carlos Alberto Scolari on the challenges of artificial intelligence is included... Beyond the prompt.
