Abstract

This chapter aims to compare perspectives on artificial intelligence (AI) across different generations. It explores the perceptions of usefulness on AI of baby boomers, Gen X, millennials and centennials; understand the motivations of each generation to use AI. The chapter identifies the perceived risks associated with AI among these generations. The uses and gratifications theory has long served as a foundational framework for understanding media consumption patterns and the motivations that the audience seeks. It effectively explains how individuals use media to achieve goals and gratifications. Perceived risk and trust are critical elements influencing consumer behavior, especially in the context of emerging technologies such as AI. The chapter explains details of the data recollection method and participants' profiles. It presents and discusses findings of the research, highlighting generational similarities and differences. Finally, the chapter explores practical implications and future research avenues.
