Abstract
This work studies Bartolomé de las Casas’ main arguments that defend the full rationality of the American Indians, in which we find (1) a positive description of the American Indian Cultures; (2) a comparison of the former with the ancient Indo-European Cultures; (3) the incorporation of the American Indian Cultures into the worldview of human civilizations; (4) the demonstration of certain negative characteristics found in pagan cultures which can only be overcome through the preaching of the Gospel.
