We are delighted to introduce the proceedings of the first edition of the MTYMEX 2017 EAI International Conference on Smart Technology. This year, the conference took place in the city of Monterrey at The Research and Technology Innovation Park (PIIT), and was sponsored by Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), Tec-nológico de Monterrey (ITESM), and Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM). This year we receive over 100 participants, including researchers, teachers, students, and professionals working in education, health, robotics, Internet of Things, virtual augmented and mixed reality technologies, artificial intelligence, gaming, software development, and digital arts. It was a great opportunity to discuss problems and solutions, identifying new issues, and to shape future directions for research that will have an impact on society.
