University student's perception of AMLO and his government's public relations regarding to the response to COVID-19

The purpose of the research was to understand the perception of university students regarding the public relations of the federal government of Mexico, the figure of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, this perception was compared with that of experts in the area of communication and politics. The research was qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory. Focus groups were made, and the Delphi method was applied to experts. The findings include the rejection of López Obrador as a responsible figure, due to the ostracism perceived in the groups investigated, the favorable perception of certain figures in his cabinet, such as Marcelo Ebrard and Hugo López-Gatell, due to his ability to handle crises. The perception of differences between the speeches of López Obrador and those of experts from his cabinet stands out, as well as the negative perception of the leading role that the president takes in public communication
