Abstract

The study described the mediatization of Pope Francis during the COVID - 19 pandemic and had as specific objectives the identification of the activities in which the pontiff participated, the categorization of the topics addressed and their recipients, the identification of the media used and the description of the metrics on digital platforms. The results obtained, under the descriptive statistical method, showed mainly the use of audiovisual communication, which led to the viral events at key moments of the confinement and the positioning of trends in social networks.
