Abstract

This article analyzes the factors that influence the university trajectories of indigenous youth. Through a qualitative de-sign and the biographical method, in-depth interviews were conducted with 16 indigenous youth residing in Nuevo Leon and belonging to eight different ethnic groups. It was found that the sociohistorical processes of inequality influence the structure and volume of capital and represent a threat to the consolidation of university trajectories, however, social and emotional capitals serve as support for educational continuity. Although, in addition to strengthening this capital, policies are needed to reverse the structural conditions of inequality that improve university trajectories.
