Abstract
Urban social identity refers to those cultural, geographical and social elements that enable a
region differs from the other, is collective memory, shared work throughout society. This
study seeks to distinguish the elements of urban social identity of the historical district of
Maracaibo from the perspective of management entities; the importance of the descriptive
and applied research lies in the contributions made by the study of identity development of
the community, recognizing it as the cities enhance its strongest features. From the results
of urban social identity of the historic town of Maracaibo, is distinguished by the religious,
historical and heritage item; since these elements reinforce the experience and the
experience of urban, shared and transmitted from generation to generation memory.
