Abstract
The development of a low cost transradial prosthesis based on existing models is done. The system is controlled by electromyography with adjustable socket for comfort and better adaptation. The goal is the performance of job duties and physiological needs for an amputee. A study of the state of the art allows to potentiate the functionality of the prototype. The methodology includes modification of 3D designs “open source” to expedite design stage, FEM analysis to prototype 3D display reference efforts and have critical points where it would have to modify the design. A main issue is the implementation of a mechanism to add degrees of freedom in the wrist. A mapping of the areas to have higher electric potential to the electrode location has been accomplished. The implementation of software to recognize patterns based on electrical signals to create an intelligent system and facilitate the movement as well as greater freedom of movement for the user has been achieved. The use of frequency response functions is key in the control strategy. The prototype has four different types of grip and connectivity to mobile devices.
