Lacanian Discourse Analysis: an ‘alternative, innovative and subversive’ methodological tool

We will explore the inclusion of Lacanian concepts into Discourse Analysis as a methodological tool that offers an alternative, innovative and subversive approach to established parameters of psychosocial research. Lacanian theory provides a guide on subverting the Discourse of the Master – insofar as the field of psychology is sustained by this discourse – betting on a form of Discourse Analysis that situates the investigator in the position of the analyst (a) who addresses the barred subject ($). Only through this relation, sustained by knowledge (S 2), can one grasp the signifiers that have traversed the subject's discourse (S 1), irreducible (and incomprehensible) signifiers before which the subject finds himself subjected.
