Migration is probably the quintessential sociological phenomenon of all time. Most of us are, have been, or will be migrants at some point in our lives.
Despite this, the integration of migrants in receiving countries is often still a pending issue worldwide, and a clear example of this is the case of Latin America. Migratory Echoes: Communication and Social Change in Latin American Migration proposes, over 10 chapters, research on the media representation of migrants throughout this geographical area. It does so with the aim of fostering empathy and the need to strengthen media literacy to unravel borders. The context of the publication is that of the postpandemic, and the reading and analysis are those of increasingly harsh US policies regarding admissions and a greater tendency toward the deportation of immigrants, especially and specifically those from the continent where the book is written.
