The book Interacciones en redes sociales y sus efectos en el mundo real: reflexiones sobre una década de profundos cambios sociales y tecnológicos offers to its readers a journey through the recent history of all continents, especially America and Europe. The objective of its author, the academic Daniel de la Garza, is to tell us about the evolution of new technologies applied to communication from the end of the 20th century to 2023, emphasizing what happened between 2010 and 2018. With an absolutely thorough speech, the researcher - who holds a doctorate in Communication and also in Philosophy with an orientation in Political Science - does not skimp on offering all possible nuances to reality, and, although in many fragments of his book he relates social networks with their ability to polarize political discours), it also emphasizes that the incendiary potential of these is less in those parts of the world where there is an independent press. In line with this idea of polarization, the inevitable phenomenon of hoaxes appears in the book. To counteract them, its author highlights the need for increasingly scarce investigative journalism, which in these current times is in crisis.
