At the Universidad de Monterrey, we are developing an internal AI-based system to support the organization, analysis, and strategic use of research outputs. The goal is to address a common challenge in academic institutions: the fragmentation and underuse of valuable knowledge generated through theses, publications, conferences, research projects and impact narratives.
This system is being designed to enable automated classification, trend identification, and the mapping of potential societal contributions. One of its main objectives is to help identify theses with high potential for impact, so they can be extended by future research, taken up by new students, or explored from other disciplinary perspectives.
Rather than serving as a general-purpose tool, this effort reflects UDEM’s commitment to enhancing the visibility and continuity of its academic work. It marks a step towards transforming isolated outputs into connected knowledge that supports informed decision-making and fosters innovation within and beyond the university.
