INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH IN PROGRESS: IDEAS AND COLLABORATIONS SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR

The Scientific Seminar “Interdisciplinary Research in Progress: Ideas and Collaborations” was convened by the Faculty of Educational Studies, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU), Poznań, Poland. The seminar was framed within AMU’s international cooperation activities and visibly aligned with the Compostela Group of Universities international framework (Compostela and AMU institutional logos appear in the official materials).
The meeting opened with remarks by the Vice-Dean for Research and International Cooperation of the Faculty, highlighting the event’s explicit orientation toward building research synergies across disciplines and institutions.
The core purpose of the seminar was to present ongoing interdisciplinary research—spanning diverse educational subfields—and to use these “work-in-progress” contributions as a platform to identify concrete opportunities for collaboration among scholars working on distinct but potentially complementary topics.
In this context, Prof. Dr. Omar Israel González Peña (University of Monterrey, Mexico) participated as an invited speaker with the keynote-style opening talk among the listed presentations, delivering “Development of STEM Educational Activities for Active Learning” (10:10–10:40).
His participation was formally recognized by AMU through an official Certificate of Participation issued by the Program Committee Chair.
Professor González Peña’s presentation synthesized evidence from his published work on STEM education and active learning, using an environmentally grounded learning design as an exemplar. Drawing on his peer-reviewed study, the talk presented a model of open-ended, experiment-based STEM activities that integrate mathematical modeling and experimentation to help students connect real-world environmental phenomena (e.g., temperature inversion and pollutant dynamics) with foundational physics concepts such as damped harmonic motion, while also supporting students’ epistemological development through inquiry-oriented learning.
