With the ongoing rise in the U.S. Latino population and cancer burden, the inaugural Advancing the Science of Cancer in Latinos conference in 2018 was a call to action for addressing cancer health disparities observed in Latino communities. It emerged from the need for Latino disparities researchers to seek solutions through multidisciplinary
collaborations and to keep pace with the substantial advancement in cancer from prevention through survivorship.
The conference brought together over 35 guest speakers, a whopping 70+ research poster presentations and 235 prominent attendees from over 20 states including esteemed researchers, physicians, healthcare professionals, patient advocates and aspiring students.
