Abstract

One of the main functions of the media is the construction of reality through the review and description of events. The Venezuelan conflict, due to the peculiar characteristics of the country, has political implications from the international community's disregard of the presidential elections of 2018, in which Nicolás Maduro was elected for a second term, which produced, in addition to a deep economic crisis, the most important migratory movement of the continent in recent years. For its part, the Holy See has played a mediating role during the conflict, being a voice heard in the concert of nations, not only through the diplomatic exercise, but also with what is mentioned in its media, so it is necessary as a complementary study, the analysis of the headlines in L'Osservatore Romano on the Venezuelan crisis, during 2018, through data collection and with a descriptive statistical treatment. The study showed that the informative content was the most used in grammatical features, with the use of verbs in active voice that kept the topic at the forefront of the editorial decision.
