Resumen
The academic study on the relationship between the consumption of information on politics and social media has consolidated in recent years. This research analyzes the relationship from a qualitative approach, addressing the analysis from the perceptions of the professors that were selected, which belonged to social sciences, and two key countries that were chosen to analyze this phenomenon: Mexico and Spain. Similar movements were presented in both countries, in Mexico # YoSoy132 questioned the traditional media, and during the 2018 presidential elections social networks significantly undermined the influence of the once powerful television. Whereas, in the case of Spain, Movement # 15-M was a watershed in the history of that nation, which shaped the political system and gave rise to new political partisan expressions that changed the traditional correlation of forces. © 2020, Associacao Iberica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informacao.
