External sector and economic performance

Detalles del proyecto

The present project delves into the dynamic evolution of the external sector's structure and its interplay with economic and environmental performance. Recent economic literature has highlighted the increasing relevance of export and import composition concerning economic growth and productivity. Nonetheless, the influence of technological intensity remains relatively underexplored, especially in developing countries. Thus, our project endeavors to examine the impact of high-tech intensive exports and imports, and the economic complexity of the external sector on key variables such as external balance, economic growth, and socioenvironmental sustainability.

Our analysis employs a sophisticated blend of econometric methods tailored for panel data and cutting-edge machine learning techniques. By leveraging these methodological tools, we aim to unravel the intricate relationships between the technological sophistication of trade flows and the multifaceted dimensions of economic and environmental performance. In addition, this research project aims to provide valuable policy implication insights.
