Abstract
ABSTRACTThe electrocardiogram (ECG) is a fundamental tool in the training of doctors, it allows the diagnosis of multiple cardiovascular pathologies, many of which put the life of the patient at risk, despite its importance, more than half of the doctors are unable to adequately interpret an ECG, multiple strategies have been implemented with the intention of improving its learning, one of them is Peer Assisted Learning (PAL), an educational strategy where a previously trained student tutor teaches other students, encouraging participation, resolution of doubts and putting into practice what has been learned, In Mexico there is no bibliography of PAL in the teaching of ECG. The PAL educational strategy was compared against the traditional method in undergraduate medical interns (MIP). The objective was to evaluate the superiority of PAL in the teaching of basic electrocardiography in MIP. A quasi-experimental study was carried out in 47 MIP, they were assigned according to their preference to the PAL method (n=22) to the traditional method (n=25), an electrographic measuring instrument was applied before and after the intervention. A significant improvement was found in the electrocardiographic diagnosis in both groups after the intervention (34 ± 23.6 vs 65.2 ± 18.5, p
