Digitalization and Visualization of Measured Data in Terms of Industry 4.0

    Student thesis: Thesis

    Abstract

Siemens has a strong commitment to modernize the company, thus moving towards the Industry 4.0 model. For this to be feasible, the digitalization of internal processes is essential. This thesis focusses on the digitalization of the complete testing process of miniature circuit breakers at the company, specically at the Lab for Miniature Circuit Breakers in Regensburg, Germany. To achieve this, an application has been developed that integrates all steps of the testing process in a single, central, and mobile web application. In this way, the generation of testing orders are digitalized, and the capturing of results is no longer written in paper but rather captured digitally and automatically. Moreover, project managers are also beneted from the real-time insight into the performance of labs and tests. This application serves as a foundation for the new digital ecosystem in testing labs and attempts to change a process that has slowly started to modernize in the last 10 years. With this new solution, the testing times of the devices are reduced, and the use of paper is kept to a minimum.
