The research addressed the problems related to maternal health and the lack of perinatal care for pregnant women in vulnerable situations in northeastern Mexico. Considering the complexity of matrescence—the physical, psychological, and social changes women experience when becoming mothers—the need for a comprehensive architectural space that provides care beyond the medical-hospital setting was raised. The main objective was to design a comprehensive maternity care center through neuroarchitecture to contribute to the physical and mental well-being of mothers and their children through the use of physical space.
