Abstract

Simulations of patient - ventilator interaction were performed with a mechanical system. Using normal values of the respiratory system parameters, we found that to achieve synchrony between patient effort and ventilator support, the latter needs to be moved forward, in order to match the displacement of the respiratory muscles.
