Abstract

A neural net was implemented to discriminate students who integrated new knowledge in long term memory from those who did not just considering word recognition latencies to concepts schematically related by a course. This is helpful to identify students that only retain information in short term memory to successfully pass an exam, but do not acquire long term competencies. It is argued that by considering this learning assessment approach over formal e-learning settings, significant delay to innovate learning assessment in virtual learning platforms can be overcome since nowadays online learning assessment is reduced to reproduce or adapt old testing methods.
