Abstract

Pemphigus foliaceus is an autoimmune chronic bullous disorder of the skin characterized by intraepider-mal blisters in the upper part of epidermis due to acantholysis, and characterized by flaccid bullae, scales crusting and erosions. the disease is caused by pathogenic igg autoantibodies directed against tesmoglein i (a desmosome protein located on the surface of keratinocytes). the diagnosis is based on the clinical and histopathological findings, tzanck test, direct and indirect immunofluorescence and serology (elisa). nowadays we have good options of treatment for this disease, but we still lack better guidelines. we report a 50 year-old male patient with pemphigus foliaceus.
