Abstract
This research addresses one of the most important demands of the university sector, the efficient management of communication processes, the instruments used in it and the content provided through the analysis of external communication processes in private universities with distance learning at undergraduate, through an audit which allowed us to
detect the strengths and weaknesses of information system in these institutions. In this sense the development of effective external communication must be based on the strategic use of communication tools which favor the recognition by the university environment external sectors of the social effort developed by these organizations and the possibility of being selected within the academic offerings of the region, the results showed that this requires the development of a communications plan and policy information to indicate aspects of the management philosophy and can be perceived by the corporate image of the public external recipient of the communication effort
