Abstract

This paper proposes a location and design warehouse methodology, starting from the premise that there’s at least one existing distribution center (DC), in a manufacturing logistics network. The paper uses current methods with a new proposed integral methodology, that covers from a general diagnosis of the current state of the company, up to a simulation phase for the network redesign. This structured guide aims to simplify the way companies research for and develop their expansi3on and warehouse design projects. Furthermore, it presents a method to take qualitative factors into account while deciding on the warehouse location and suggests a simulation method that takes more than a single stock item’s behavior into account, so results could be more accurate.
