Abstract

The formation of values is one of the fundamental requirements for the humanization of society, regardless of the academic level, social complexities require foundations on which behavior can be based, much more in the university environment, in which professional formation is determined by a specific contribution from the practice of knowledge. The research aims to explain the formation of social values in the professional disciplines of students at the University of Monterrey in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The specific objectives: are to identify the social values associated with professional disciplines; to relate social values to the professional formation experiences of university students; and to describe the experience of formation in values. The sample consisted of 100 students who studied Christian Social Ethics, of Common Core, and the approach was carried out under the inductive analytical method with a transactional design since the data collection was done between the years 2022 and 2023. The results show that hierarchically the values associated with the professions were: Charity, truth, freedom and justice; and some of the words referred to were honesty, transparency, responsibility, creativity, equality, service, help, and coexistence.
