N2 - This study, characterized by a mixed, comparative focus, evaluated the influence of internal and external systemic factors among students with high intellectual potential who attend an extracurricular educational center. The findings indicate that internal factors, resilience, and emotional intelligence are helpful for students as they handle the stress of extracurricular activities; external factors such as family organization and student experience at the educational center have an impact on student motivation and performance as they continue their academic preparation. © 2018 Consejo Mexicano de Investigacion Educativa.
