Abstract
The objective of this research is to analyze the working conditions of cardboard recyclers in the cities of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Cali, Colombia; and Monterrey, Mexico, in order to propose guidelines for public policy to improve their conditions. Qualitative research methodology was followed, based on a multicase analysis in the cities mentioned and using tools such as planned observation of and semi-structured interviews with these workers from 2008-2014. In general, it was found that cardboard-recycling activities are highly precarious in the three cities analyzed and will require actions both by government, as well as labor and civil society, to mitigate the risk faced by these workers.
