Abstract
•In this research the effects of tribological performance through the implementation of
microcavities by applying Laser Surface Texturing (LST) technique on tool steel for metalmechanic industry are evaluated
• The study is performed by varying the microcavities’ geometries and lubricant type (water-based or oilbased). PVD coating was introduced as comparison.
• For tribological evaluation, a block-on-ring configuration was used.
• The experimental design parameters are proposed and evaluated to identify the best
tribological performance (coefficient of friction – COF and wear).
