Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the variables that restrict the use of ICT by university teachers. The research methodology was quantitative and carried out by means of a survey of 328 university teachers of three public universities. The variables analyzed were: age, gender, marital status, level of studies, field of expertise of the teacher at the university, length of service at the university, type of work indenture, modality in which courses are given, and time spent using ICT. The results indicate that out of those variables, the ones which restrict and explain use of ICT by university teachers are: modality in which courses are given, seniority, field of expertise and time spent using ICT. By the afore mentioned it becomes evident that the educational context impacts the use of ICT.
