Abstract

This study aims to explain the service-learning experiences of communication projects for social change, as an intercultural exercise, designed by Information and Communication Sciences students at the University of Monterrey. These projects are proposed as solutions for the Civil Association of Archdiocesan Schools of Maracaibo, Venezuela, in the subject of Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication, based on the social awareness and acceptance proposed by the Global Compact for Education. The research addresses the experience of the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters, in which seven projects were designed from different aspects of communication and according to the foundation's support programs. The results demonstrate the students' motivation for intercultural exchange and the production of creative communication products that allow for the implementation of the welcoming disposition of the culture of encounter among the peripheries of distant, yet service-related situations.
